July 9-11  LACES   (late) 10 Year High School Reunion

 

July 12 Arrive Chicago and begin THE trip...

We hit Chicago, had drinks at John Barlycorns, and dinner at some cool Italian place in Lincoln Park wtih Howard.  We then took Howard home to the BURBS to say hi to Stacy and see the kid.  Oh ya, we then drove south for a few hours toward St. Louis.

Tuesday July 13

Breakfast at Goody Goody Cafe in St. Louis. It was the Bomb, but not enough food!!

Graceland in the afternoon.  Very cool!!  ELVIS LIVES!!!!

Rendevous for dinner... BBQ of course!! The BOMB!!

Drinks on Beale and then bed time!!

JULY 14th

Breakfast in Memphis at the Barksdale Cafe (very good). and then a trip through the Civil Rights Museum at the Loraine Motel.  Lunch in Nashville.   Dinner in Knoxville.  Oh ya, and a few drinks in Knoxville... near the UTenn Campus.

 

July 15th

Is that Boog or JC? EARLY start from Knoxville heading toward Baltimore.  Arrive in time for a quick trip to the gym, a walk around downtown, and then the Baltimore Orioles game at Camden Yards against the Expos.  Dinner at Boog Powell's BBQ and then a decent game.  Drinks at ESPNzone after the game with a frat bro... which is a very cool spot, by the way.

July 16th

Leave Baltimore in the morning, after a quick trip through the Babe Ruth museum.  Lunch in Phili at Pat's Cheesesteak, followed by the run up THE steps at the art museum... ala Rockey!!   Arrive NYC 6:00 PM.  Head out for dinner and drinks with Andy and the boys.  Late night snack at Katz's deli (pastrami, of course).

July 17th-  NEW YORK CITY

Yankees against Braves in the Bronx... after a few drinks at Stan's across from the stadium. Awesome day... but HUMID as hell!!!  Dinner at Rectangles followed by drinks.  Late night pizza and Fresca!!

July 18th

Head to the Cape.  Stop in New Heaven to check out Yale campus.   Also stopped in Newport, RI.  Next east coast beach trip will be to Newport!   Arrive in the Cape, and the media throngs, about 8:00 pm.  Dinner and drinks in Hyannis. Media everywhere.  Welcome to the Cape

 

 

July 19th- HYANNIS, MASS

Travel through the statalite dishes and tv cameras at the Kennedy compound, thanks to Seth's friend Andrew.  Trip to the beach and then back to the hotel for pool and quick visit to the gym.  Dinner in Hyannis after seeing American Pie. Thumbs up to American Pie!!  Bumped into Sacramento news man Walt Grey at bar in Hyannis; small world!

 

 

July 20th

Head to Boston....  after a great walking tour of Boston, we headed to the bars near Fenway, and then to a great game at Fenway.  Red Sox won... and then we headed back to the bars!!   Had to celebrate with newphew Lance on his exciting news of getting accepted to Lewis and Clark Law to transfer there for his second year. Congrats to Lance!!

 

July 21st

Left Boston early... and headed toward Cooperstown, New York. Had a great tour of the Hall of Fame and then headed toward Pennsylvania.  Stopped in exciting Bloomberg, PA for the night.   Fun, fun, fun....

July 22nd

Groundhog Day Left Bloomsberg, and headed toward Pittsburgh.  We skipped potential side trips to Penn State and to Williams Port (little league world series home), but couldn't resist Punxitani, PA... home of Ground Hog Day. Very funny and then into Pittsburgh.  Hung out with family that night... and then drinks on the Strip.

 

 

July 23rd - 25th  Pittsburgh, PA

Toured the old Palley stomping grounds in Squirrel Hill.  Dinner on Mt. Washington.   Also, visited the Heinz Museum, and had a great birthday dinner party for Andy... including a marvelous toast by John and Seth to Andy.

July 25th

Leave Pittsburgh at noon after a tour of the Andy Warhol Museum and head toward Cleveland.  Dinner in Cleveland and then drinks in the Flats.

July 26th

Sleep in... and then Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  It was very cool, by the way.  Then head toward Jacob's Field for the game between the Indians and the Tigers.  Very nice stadium... but not quite as nice as Baltimore. 

 

 

July 27th

Leave Cleveland early and head to Cedar Point Amusement Park in Ohio.  After a lovely day there Seth and I head to Toledo for the night.  Dinner at Tony Packos ( a favorite of Klinger on MASH), a quick visit to the Mudhen's stadium and then saw the movie The Wood.

 

July 28th

Leave Toledo early and head to Detroit.  After touring Tiger Stadium (the one about to be torn down) headed to lunch in Greek Town with Jon Campbell and family.  Toured around Detroit and headed toward Ann Arbor.

July 29th - August 1

Arrived in Chicago in time for game at Comisky Field. HOT AS HELL.   Saw games at Wrigley on Friday and Saturday. Toured Chicago on Sunday.  Headed back to Sac Sunday night.

 

WHAT  A TRIP!!!!!!!  I highly recommend it!!
